You've tried so many things. But you're still wondering if you're doing enough.

You’ve researched curriculum, changed programs, adjusted schedules, shortened assignments, tried accommodations, and experimented with different ways to help your child learn.

Some of those changes have helped. Some haven’t. But the hardest part is often knowing which changes are right for your child.

When your child isn’t learning at the same pace or in the same way as traditional learners, it’s easy to second-guess yourself.

Am I modifying too much?
Should I be expecting more?
Are we moving too slowly?
Is my child really getting an excellent education?

You don’t need another isolated tip or strategy.

You need a way to step back, understand what your child truly needs, and bring all of those decisions together into one clear, confident plan.

There is a better way to make these decisions.

Your child's education does not have to be measured against a traditional path.

When your child learns differently, the questions are different too.

What needs more time?
What needs direct instruction?
What can be modified?
Where would an accommodation help?
What matters most right now?

The challenge isn't finding one more strategy.
It’s knowing how to make all of these decisions together.

The Plan gives you a framework for working through those decisions with clarity and confidence.

You’ll work through the key decisions that shape your homeschool, including:

  • what your child truly needs right now
  • where to remediate and where to accommodate
  • how to modify curriculum without constantly second-guessing yourself
  • how to adjust pace and workload appropriately
  • how to build a routine that fits your learner and your family
  • how to bring those decisions together into one cohesive plan

So instead of wondering whether you’re doing enough, you can move forward with a plan you understand and trust.

Four Steps to Build an Education Around What Your Child Really Needs

The Plan walks you through the key areas that shape an individualized education — so you can focus on what matters most and make purposeful decisions about everything else.

01

Know what matters.

Step back from traditional expectations and identify what matters most for your child right now — including priorities, areas that need direct instruction, and places where support may remove unnecessary barriers.

02

Choose What Fits

Look at curriculum through the lens of your child’s actual learning needs. Decide what to keep, adapt, simplify, combine, or replace without starting over every time something isn’t working.

03

Build Your Rhythm

Bring your priorities and curriculum decisions into a realistic homeschool routine that considers attention, energy, independence, multiple children, and the realities of your family.

04

Start & Adjust

Put your plan into practice gradually, notice what is and isn’t working, and make thoughtful adjustments rather than assuming every problem means you chose the wrong plan.

By the end of The Plan, you’ll be able to put the pieces together into an individualized education that truly fits your smart but struggling learner.

Before finding Marianne’s work, I was constantly trying to figure out what I was supposed to be doing and whether I was doing enough. I learned that learning does not have to look the same for every child. I began paying more attention to my child’s individual needs, strengths, challenges, and progress instead of trying to force everything into one standard way of learning. That shift changed how I approach homeschooling.

What changes when you know what your child really needs

The goal of The Plan isn’t to give you another set of rules to follow. It’s to help you develop the judgment and confidence to make educational decisions for your child.

After working through The Plan, you’ll know how to:

  • Know what deserves your attention right now — and what can wait.
  • Recognize when your child needs more time without automatically assuming they are failing or falling hopelessly behind.
  • Modify curriculum and assignments purposefully instead of wondering whether you’re making things “too easy.”
  • Use accommodations with confidence while still addressing the skills that need direct instruction.
  • Let go of expectations that aren’t serving your child without feeling that you’re giving them a lesser education.
  • Evaluate progress based on your child’s real needs and growth, not only by comparison with traditional learners.
  • Adjust your homeschool from year to year as your child grows, develops new skills, and becomes more independent.

You’re not just creating this year’s homeschool plan. You’re learning how to make confident educational decisions for your child for years to come.

Hi, I'm Marianne.

I've spent more than 30 years homeschooling smart but struggling learners, including seven of my own children with dyslexia and ADHD.

For many years, I wrestled with the same questions you may be asking now.

How much should I push?
When should I slow down?
What really matters?
Am I modifying too much?
Are my kids getting the education they need?

Through research, training, and especially through teaching my own children, I came to understand that kids who learn differently often need an educational path that looks very different from the one many of us grew up with.

That realization changed the way I homeschooled.

I became much more intentional about priorities, accommodations, curriculum, pace, independence, and what a truly excellent education could look like for each child.

The Plan brings together the framework I wish I had years ago — a way to make thoughtful, purposeful educational decisions without measuring every choice against a traditional model.

FAQs

Can I use The Plan at any time of year?

Yes. The Plan is designed to help you evaluate and adjust your homeschool whenever you need it — at the beginning of the year, midyear, or when something simply isn’t working.

What ages is The Plan for?

The framework can be used from elementary through high school. The specific priorities and level of independence will look different depending on your child’s age and stage.

What if I homeschool more than one child?

You can use the planning process for each child individually while also looking for ways to simplify your homeschool through shared learning and family routines.

Do I need to buy new curriculum?

Not necessarily. A big part of The Plan is learning how to evaluate, modify, adapt, or simplify what you already have before assuming you need to replace it.

Is The Plan only for dyslexia?

No. It is designed for smart but struggling learners, including kids with ADHD, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, executive-function weaknesses, processing difficulties, and other learning differences.

How long will it take me to complete?

The course has four self-paced lessons. You can move through them quickly or take time between lessons to work through the planning pages and apply what you are learning.

We’ve had the best start to a school year that we’ve ever had because you helped me prioritize what was most important and clarify how to make that happen. I was able to shift my expectations, embrace where my kids are, and meet their needs in a way that works for all of us.

— Stephanie B.
